Karask

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 pint sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup barley flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup carrot (grated finely)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for sauteing
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup cranberries
  • 2/3 cup whipping cream

Recipe

  • 1 saute grated carrot in butter over medium high heat 2-3 minutes ; let cool.
  • 2 mix soda and flours.
  • 3 beat eggs, add sour cream, sugar, salt.
  • 4 add the flour mixture; mix well.
  • 5 add melted butter and carrots and mix very well.
  • 6 pour mixture into baking dish
  • 7 bake at 350f for 35-40 minutes.
  • 8 serve hot with cranberry cream sauce (see below).
  • 9 cranberry cream-sauce for serving:
  • 10 mix sugar and yogurt, till sugar is disolved.
  • 11 whip the cream till soft and mix in the yogurt.
  • 12 mash the cranberries and add to the mixture.
