Ingredients

  • 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cubed

  • 1 cup frozen green peas
  • 1/2 cup sliced celery
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion

  • preheat oven to 425 degrees f (220 degrees c.)
  • in a saucepan, combine chicken, carrots, peas, and celery. add water to cover and boil for 15 minutes. remove from heat, drain and set aside.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Ingredients

  • 4 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated carrot (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pimento peppers (optional)

  • bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. add the macaroni, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. rinse under cold water and drain.

italian sausage soup with tortellini

  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup red
  • 4 large tomatoes - peeled, seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup thinly sliced carrots
  • 1/2 tablespoon packed fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced zucchini
  • 8 ounces fresh tortellini pasta
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

  • 3 large carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 large parsnips, peeled and sliced
  • 2 onions, chopped

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 large carrots, chopped
  • 1/4 large onion, chopped
  • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of potato soup
  • 2 cups milk

  • place the bratwursts and water into a large skillet, and set over medium heat. bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 10 minutes. turn brats, and add more water if needed. add carrots to the water. cover and simmer for 10 more minutes. drain, and slice the bratwurst.

  • preheat oven to 425 degrees f (220 degrees c.)
  • in a saucepan, combine chicken, carrots, peas, and celery. add water to cover and boil for 15 minutes. remove from heat, drain and set aside.
  • in the saucepan over medium heat, cook onions in butter until soft and translucent. stir in flour, salt, pepper, and celery seed. slowly stir in chicken broth and milk. simmer over medium-low heat until thick. remove from heat and set aside.
  • place the chicken mixture in bottom pie crust. pour hot liquid mixture over. cover with top crust, seal edges, and cut away excess dough. make several small slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
  • bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown and filling is bubbly. cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Ingredients

  • 15 gingersnaps
  • 4 1/2 pounds rump roast
  • 7 potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 6 carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 6 stalks celery, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 cubes beef bouillon
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • line the bottom of a large dutch oven or slow cooker with the gingersnaps. place the roast on the cookies and cover with water. place the potatoes, carrots, celery and onion on top of the meat, and crumble the bouillon cubes into the water. bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 3 to 6 hours (or 8 hours on low in a slow cooker), until meat is tender.

rita's pasta and meat sauce

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2/3 cup diced carrots
  • 2/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, with juice
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 (12 ounce) package farfalle (bow tie) pasta
  • 1/4 cup crumbled gorgonzola cheese (optional)

  • in a large skillet over medium heat, combine ground beef, onion and garlic. cook until meat is evenly brown. drain excess fat. stir in carrots, bell pepper, diced tomatoes and stewed tomatoes with juice. season with onion powder, parsley, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. cover, and simmer 15 minutes. stir in tomato sauce and sugar. simmer 15 minutes more.
  • bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. add pasta, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente; drain. toss pasta with meat sauce until evenly coated, and serve with crumbled gorgonzola.
