Homemade Ketchup With Carrot (deceptively Delicious)

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato puree
  • 1/2 cup carrot puree (baby food is quick and easy)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (to taste)

Recipe

  • 1 stir all the ingredients together in a big saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • 2 reduce the heat and simmer until the mixture has reduced by about half, 10-20 minutes.
  • 3 let cool before serving.
  • 4 refrigerate in an airtight container for up to five days or freeze in ¼-cup amounts in zipper-lock snack bags for up to three months.
